You better believe inside that category there’s a vendor or 6 dozen competing for the attention of the same individual. The established incumbents take advantage of their massive budgets to remain top of mind with their future customer.
The priority is to show up anywhere and everywhere that their decision makers could be.
This could be by hosting trendy field marketing events, fancy steak dinners, and having the biggest trade show booth known to mankind and the next overhyped marketing event.
Also, it could be injecting what seems to be unlimited funds into a digital strategy where their brand shows up seemingly every time we open up our Chrome browser.
For many, it’s about trying not to get swallowed by these entrenched whales.
Many startup marketers who’ve dealt with this situation have asked ourselves, “How am I supposed to compete against this?”
There’s no one size fits all answer, but it starts with doing things differently and building your brand through authenticity.
She reminded me about the importance of not falling into the trap of replicating what the competition is doing and why it’s important to obsessively embrace experimentation.
We are starting off this year with more focus than ever before around the modern day marketer in B2B. We’ve learned so much for the guests on the show and their philosophies that we’ve decided to double down on this platform.
