The Friday Concentrate #8: It’s not supposed to be easy.

I’m a sports fan. One of the unhealthy sports fans who cares way too much about millionaires and kids (and millionaire kids) playing catch. 

Unfortunately, I don’t exactly cheer for any great dynasties. But…as a Purdue fan, college basketball has been mostly fun this season. Head Coach Matt Painter gave me one of my favorite moments of the season after a win a couple of weeks ago: 

At the 0:44 second mark: “If it wasn’t special, then it’d be easy.” 

Dang. It’s true for entrepreneurs and marketers. 

In an era when we are constantly resource-constrained and being told to do more with less, it’s so easy to default to the path of least resistance. It’s easy to repeat the same playbook. It’s easy to trade "great" for efficiencies. 

Easy: Gating content for leads || Difficult: Creating great ungated content that drives inbound leads 

Easy: Spending on social advertising || Difficult: Empowering your team to drive organic social results 

Easy: Doing a webinar || Difficult: Turning a webinar into a virtual event campaign 

These are just a few examples. And I know it’s not this straightforward nor is it this binary. But if you want to be special, it is rarely efficient or easy. 

That’s why we’re so excited to be working with ActiveCampaign on The ActiveCampaign Leap Day Extravaganza! I can assure you, this has not been an “easy” project. I’m not sure how Jeff Rohrs, VP of Brand at ActiveCampaign, has made the magic happen (we have an upcoming podcast episode to learn how) but I can assure you this event doesn’t have a “playbook” we’re following. 

The Extravaganza! is a record-breaking, 29-hour stream that aims to help marketers and entrepreneurs #MakeMoreTime in 2024. The event will run on, you guessed it…Leap Day.
